Understanding Moving Damage Claims, Valuation Coverage, and Our Customer Service Philosophy

One of the most common questions we receive is, "What happens if something gets damaged during my move?"
The answer depends on the type of protection selected before the move begins.

What Is Full-Value Protection?
Full-Value Protection (sometimes called Full-Value Replacement Coverage) is an optional level of protection that may be available for purchase before your move. Under this type of coverage, damaged items may be repaired, replaced, or compensated according to the terms of the valuation agreement.
Because every move is different, customers should review the specific terms and limits of any valuation coverage before moving day.
What If I Don't Purchase Additional Coverage?
Like many moving companies, we provide the standard protections required by law and outlined in our moving agreement. Customers who decline additional valuation coverage are generally accepting a more limited level of protection.
It is important to understand that moving inherently involves risk. Furniture, appliances, antiques, and household goods can be susceptible to damage despite careful handling and professional packing practices.
Our Approach to Customer Service
Marquette Movers is a locally owned and operated business—not a national call center.
If an issue arises, you won't spend hours navigating automated phone systems or waiting weeks for someone to return your call. Customers have direct access to company leadership and decision-makers.
While customers who purchase additional valuation coverage receive the protections described in their coverage agreement, we also recognize that every situation is unique.
When damage occurs, we review each circumstance individually and work with customers to find reasonable solutions whenever possible. Depending on the situation, this may include repairs, referrals to local repair professionals, partial compensation, or other mutually agreeable resolutions.
We Believe in Fairness and Common Sense
Our goal is not to hide behind fine print. We strive to be fair, transparent, and reasonable in our decision-making.
That does not mean every claim will result in compensation, nor does it replace the protections offered through optional valuation coverage. However, we believe that open communication and a practical approach often lead to the best outcomes for everyone involved.
Why We Recommend Additional Coverage
Most moves are completed without any damage issues. However, valuable furniture, electronics, antiques, artwork, and sentimental family heirlooms may warrant additional protection.
For customers moving high-value items, purchasing additional valuation coverage can provide greater peace of mind and clearer expectations should an accident occur.
Questions? Just Ask.
We encourage customers to discuss valuation options, insurance considerations, and claims procedures before moving day. We are happy to explain the available protections, answer questions, and help you make an informed decision.
At Marquette Movers, our reputation is built on honesty, communication, and taking care of our customers. If you have questions about moving protection options, we're always just a phone call away.
